Press release · 19-12-2019The Hague, 19 December 2019. The Eumedion General Board has
appointed Mariëtte Doornekamp as new Chair of the General Board of Eumedion.
Mariëtte Doornekamp (62 years) is member of the ABP Board. Mariëtte Doornekamp succeeds Garmt
Louw (Chairman Shell Pension Fund). Garmt Louw completed his maximum statutory Eumedion
Board appointment term of six year and had to step down as a consequence.
Recommended by ABP, Mariëtte Doornekamp was appointed as a Eumedion
Board member in June 2017 and has been Vice-Chair of the Eumedion Board since
June 2018. Mariëtte Doornekamp: “Investors are increasingly in need of data on
more than just the financial performance of companies. Non-financial
performance indicators and transparent reporting on sustainability factors such
as the environment, employees, social aspects and human rights are essential to
accommodate this need of investors. As Chair and for the benefit of the
Eumedion members, I will focus on that topic in the upcoming years. And I will
continue to express my opinion that gender diversity in the corporate boards
leads to better results, both financially and strategically. You can't ignore
it, the level of inequality between men and women in the Netherlands is still
huge”.
Mariëtte Doornekamp has worked in the financial world for 20
years as a banker and at NCM (now Atradius). After that she became CFO at Damen
Shipyards, an international shipyard group, and was also on the Executive Board
for more than two years at MCB (metal wholesaler). After a switch to Private
Equity, she has been a board member at ABP since April 2009 and also holds
various other board positions in both the profit and non-profit sector.
As of today Eumedion’s General Board is composed of the
following persons:
